CERVICAL SPINE MRI

Regarding the following results, is surgery an option for severe pain and inability to sleep?
C3-4 bilateral uncovertebral ridging resulting in moderate left foraminal narrowing
C4-5 bilateral uncovertebral ridging, disc bulge and spondylitic disc ridge resulting in severe left foraminal narrowing
C5-6 asymmetic disc bulge causing encroachment on the right entrance zone and severe right foraminal narrowing; moderate left formainal narrowing
C6-7 asymmetric disc bulge, more prominent on the right with severe right foraminal narrowing
Thank you.

i have all my c1-c6 screwed up. i have degenerative disc disease in upper c's. a spinal syrinx i mid c's and a bulging disc in lower back. go figure. i am on chronic pain meds. but it helps just a tenth of the day. otherwise, i use muscle relaxants, heat/cold packs when i need em. try to relax.lol. like i can. but i know surgery is discussed. i also know there is a chance, with all my other disc problems, that surgery is not promising i would be pain free either. that there are other stuff going on. once the nerves are damaged, its damaged. i would consult with your neurologist. i would join support groups, not isolate. keep your mind busy. cope with it. i am trying. man am i trying ;0)= let me know how your doing.

Hi,
How are you feeling now?
It's really sad that you are going through all this.
There are many different terms used to describe spinal disc pathology and associated pain, such as “herniated disc”, “pinched nerve”, and “bulging disc”. The bones which form your spine are called as vertebrae. The space between two vertebras is cushioned with disc. When disc bulge or break open due to any reasons like ageing, or trauma to spine, it is called as herniated disc. It can happen in any region, but is more common at lower back in lumber region.
It is advisable for you to do physiotherapy for relief of pain and spasm of muscle, pain killers and pain management specialist for initial conservative management. But if this fails, the option left is surgery. You may want to consider surgery if you have had severe shooting pain in shoulder radiating down to arms for more than a month. Only about 1 person in 10 still has enough pain after 6 weeks to think about surgery.
As there are complications associated with spinal surgery, the doctor will exhaust all his conservative management and then opine for surgery.
Discectomy, Laminotomy, Laminectomy or percutaneous laminectomy are usually considered surgeries.
Hope this helps you.
Bye.
