CT finding

I have had recurrent headaches and nausea for 2 weeks and earlier this week began having sudden, severe pain that is best described as an 'ice pick' headache. These came in intervals approximately 10 min apart and as they intensified I began to feel dizzy afterwards. I was evaluated at the ER and a 6.2 mm "fluid attenuation structure" was located in the subcortical white matter of the right paramidline parietal lobe via CT scan. Does this finding require follow up with a neurologist and what could these findings possibly mean? (Cyst?) Could this be the cause of the headaches, nausea, and dizziness? Thank you in advance.

Thank you very much for your reply. My GP referred me to a neurosurgeon and I'm scheduled to be seen in Dec.

Hi!
A fluid attenuation mass on CT is indicative of a cystic lesion. This can cause pressure changes and hence headache, dizziness and nausea. Usually a 6.2 mm mass is unlikely to cause pressure symptoms.
The other possibility of a morning headache with nausea and dizziness is pinched cervical spinal nerves. Take care!
