Hi.
Please be careful when applying heat to the affected areas. You should only allow around 15-20 minutes per application, not leave it on the entire night.
Unless the underlying condition is identified, I'm afraid you can only take OTC pain medications and muscle relaxants for relief. Just hang in there. The 11th is just a few more days away and you'll hopefully be assessed completely by a neurologist.
Good luck.
The results of the CT scan were clear for bleeding. The pain is constant, but there is real sharp pains, almost paralyzing, that occur during the headache. The pain does feel worse than when they first started. No other parts of the body hurt. I have not experianced any nausea or vomiting. I belive that it is muscle spasms that are affecting a nerve. The pain was almost unbearable today. I went to the ER today and they put me on muscle relaxers to calm the muscles in the neck down. I hope this helps me. I really do appriciate the help you have all given me. Sorry for posting so many times i am just in alot of pain right now. I put a heating pad on it the other night and it helped me to sleep, but when i woke up I was in extreme pain. How long should i put the heat on for. It also seems like once i lay down to sleep and i wake up thats when it hurts the most. Is there a way that i can lay without it hurting. Thanks
Hi William,
I think you have posted for your pain quite a few times. Your pain seems to be unbearable. I think you should visit the hospital and rule out any imminent emergency pathology. You can ask for change of pain killers or higher dose of pain killers. You should always be accompanied by somebody.
Hope this helps.
Bye.
Hi.
What accident were you in? Do you know the results of the CT scan? It could provide us clues on what you are suffering from. Is the pain constant or does it occur when you move about? Has the pain worsened since it started or the pain has been of the same intensity? Do you experience pain in other parts of the body? Any other symptoms such as nausea or vomiting?
By itself, the pain could be caused by many things, such as nerve compression secondary to vertebral injury.
If the pain is intolerable, you could opt to go to the hospital. Otherwise, you could continue your pain meds, apply a cold pack if there is swelling, apply heat on the affected area if there is no swelling or redness, and try to rest, and go to your appointment on the 11th.
Hope this helps.
