Thank you for your question again. First & foremost, urinary/bowel incontinence treatment depends upon treating the cause (Multiple Sclerosis). Other methods like behavioral method (learning how to delay urination, going for the urination according to the clock rather than urgency, fluid & diet management), physical therapy (Kegel’s exercise-pelvic floor muscle strengthening, electrical stimulation) and certain medications can be recommended by your treating doctor to get some relief from your symptoms. Sometimes surgery can also be recommended when conservative treatment doesn’t work in the situation. Hope this helps.
Thank you doctor for answering my question. Can you also help me in my bowel problems like constipation, stool leakage, gas plz help.
Thank you for your question. Although without being able to examine you I can not offer you the specific advice on diagnosis and treatment that you need, but I would try to provide you some relevant information about your health concern.
In Multiple sclerosis attacks, first there is a reduction of eyesight and could be pain behind the eyes. Other symptoms may be paralysis, loss of sensation, urinary incontinence, paralysis or loss of muscle coordination & strength. Neurologist would like to perform MRI scanning of the brain/spine and neuro-physiological examinations to understand the extent of disease. Unfortunately, there is no permanent cure of the disease but steroid treatment may shorten the duration and degree of severity of the attacks. Frequent symptoms may also be treated with a variety of medications such as pain killers, anti-depressants, or drugs to prevent urinary continence. In recent researches, Interferon-beta treatment appears to reduce the number of fresh attacks and the extent of the damage. In addition, physiotherapy for the attacks is also advisable to help in restoring the functions lost. Hope this helps.
