Cauda Equina

by ETRiley, May 03, 2009 05:48PM
Help!! I'm worried - I had an lower lumbar MRI and everything came out fine - just some mild disc degeneration but I'm continuing to have numbness in my legs & feet, lower back pain and numbness in my anus. I was reading that this could be a sign of cauda equina and it is a medical emergency. I should also mention that I had nerve conduction tests and those also came out normal. Should I be concerned that they missed something on the MRI or could it just be something else. I'm going to the neurologist on Tuesday but in the meantime I'm getting very anxiuos. Can someone please set my mind at ease.

Thanks!!

Hi! this should not be any emergency as you think. Please go fo an MRI whole spine where you will get detailed information of spinal cord whether any nerve is getting compressed.Anyhow you are consulting a neurophysician.Hopes this helps you.Take care.
