Chronic head and eye pain since roller coaster ride

Chronic head and eye pain since roller coaster ride

After a day of riding roller coasters at Magic Mountain with no problems, as I was riding on the old, rickety wooden one, I suddenly got the most excrutiating headache I have ever had. It was a very sharp pain that went in a line from the top right crown of my head, down to my eye. I didn't go on any more coasters after that, obviously. I chalked it up to sinus issues at the time, as I tend to have sinus trouble in situations like flying. The thing is the headache persisted until that evening, and has been off and on daily since then. Sometimes it is the same, sharp pain (although not as intense as the first day), and sometimes it is basically an "eyeache", for lack of a better term. It does not seem to be worse, but not better either. Also, my vision in my right eye seems different. I have finally gone to the doctor, but am waiting for my insurance to approve an MRI. Can this be a subdural hematoma? If so, would it sill persist, without getting worse or better, for the almost two months it has been since the roller coaster???

Hi,

Thanks for writing in.
Subdural hematomas are known to occur in individuals during roller coaster rides especially if they are suffering from hypertension.
Do you have a history of high BP?
Subdural hematoma especially the small ones clear up on their own by resorption of blood in the surrounding tissues. The bigger ones if left untreated can lead to brain injury.
I would suggest you to get yourself clinically evaluated although as of now it seems to sinus which is causing these symptoms, but it is always better to be safe.

I had laser repairs 3 times on right eye August 13th.  Ihave had chronic eye pain since. Went back to doctor and he said that it was normal due to pupil change.  I have lost sleep and have tried motrin.  I can not stand the pain anymore and loosing so much sleep.  Please tell me what is going on and how to fix this.

thank you

David
