I am a 25 year old femaleCondoms Female condoms Female sexual dysfunction who has experienced seizures for the last 7 years following a severe fall from a horseHorse chestnut resulting in a headHead and face reconstruction Head injury Head lice Indications of head injury Radial head injury injury. I have had multiple seizures going into status on more than one occasion. During one episode of status, the initial EEG showed epileptic activity shortly after the seizure. However, following subsequent seizures revealed no EEG abnormality. Also, this has happened in more than one situation. I have had it suggested to me that I have frontal lobe epilepsyEpilepsy Epilepsy - resources Treatment of epilepsy (abnormality was shown in the left fronto temporal region on more than one EEG) by my current neuro. However, multiple times, doctors have said they were pseudoseizures. I am thoroughly confused as my doc keeps me on meds with which I have done well on recently. However, being a medical person myself (medic by profession) I cannot help but wonder if they are true seizures or not. Any advice you can provide is appreciated as I am confused and want to receive the right care and why the EEG would not show activity. Thanks in advance.
A normal EEG does not mean an absence of seizure !! Considering your initial EEG being abnormal, and a good response to anti-epileptic drugs, there should not be any doubt about your seizures. But if your EEG is normal "during" the seizure, epilepsy can be ruled out.
