Constant Leg Pain & Possible Second Stroke

My husband had a bleeding stroke 2 yrs ago.  As a result, he can walk with a brace and cane but cannot use his left arm and his cognitive abilities are quite impaired.  He can not take any statins for his high cholesterol due to severe side effects.  He can not exercise due to pain sensations and inability to concentrate for long.  Lately he is experiencing constant leg pain.  Since he is already high risk, is there a possibility that his leg pain could be a serious symptom or is it just the pain the doctors once addressed with Neurontin?  The doctors have no idea why he had the stroke in the first place since they said that high cholesterol alone would not cause his initial stroke.  He began having seizures one year after the stroke.  Does any research that you are aware show that my husband could have another serious stroke with regards to his overall condition?
