Does clear EMG/NCS definitively rule out Guillain Barre?

I had a horrendous experience in December (paresthesia, numbness, severe weakness, partial paralysis a week following a virus), which the doctors initially considered to be Guillain Barre Syndrome. Seven months after the 'episode', I still experience agonising electric shock like sensations over my body which are only controlled by a hefty dose of Pregabalin.

I have since undergone an EMG and Nerve Conduction Study which showed no abnormalities. Does this definitively rule out Guillain Barre? If so, is there anything else that could explain what happened?

In my opinion this will CONFIRM whether this is or was GB or something else.

Thank you for this.

Once you get GBS, will it always show in a spinal tap?

I would inquire about the LP (Lumbar Puncture) to check your CFS (Cerebrospinal Fluid).

No, I haven't had a lumbar puncture - I have only just been able to get a referral to a neurologist on the NHS.

Is it worth asking for one now, or does it stop showing in the spinal tap after a certain period of time?

Thanks very much.
