Facial numbing

Today whilst playing with my dog, we kind of hit faces and his tooth accidentally made a small cut under my eye but close to my nose on the left side. It was quite an impact hit as my dog is big and solid, almost instantly the left side of my nose and small area under my eye has gone numb. Every so often I feel tingling like pins and needles but the feeling of it is gone when I touch or scratch the skin .
I went to the drs and he said should be fine and back in the morning, he also didn't seem to care , I'm a bit worried and want a second confirmation that feeling will come back to ease my mind, as my nose is runny and I can't feel it running down my face :(

The ice should help with the swelling, and hopefully by reducing the swelling and numbness should disappear.  If you're concerned please see a physician.  Otherwise give it a few days and see how you do.

Even though dog bites are not considered as dirty as other animal bites, I hope you or the MD cleaned the would out.  Are you up to date with your Tetanus vaccine?  If not, get one.

After trauma, you are likely to swell to the affected area.  You may not see it since it may be under the skin, so I would apply ice packs to the area 20 minutes at a time, 4 - 6 x/day for the next day.  This may help your symptoms as well.

Did you check your dog to make sure he/she has all it's teeth intact?  Sometimes with situations like this a tooth can be left inside the person and it is detected on X-ray, but you can just check your dog yourself.  If all the teeth are there, don't worry about having a foreign body in your face.

If your numbness doesn't go away in a few days, esp. after doing the ice packs, then I would notify your doctor again or get a second opinion.  Please keep us informed.

It could be a trigeminal nerve damage.
