My 8 year old neice has been told she has this condition. She has had 3 fainting episodes in the past year 1/2.I have noticed that on 2 occasions it happened in a very warm enviroment.Could the fainting be increased because of heat or even a lack of rest. Please help...She has asthma also and that worries me.
Hi Emma,
I can understand how desperately you want to get rid of it.
Fainting usually occurs due to autonomic reflex, wherein decreased heart rate and drop in blood pressure cause further drop in oxygen to brain and you lose consciousness and fall.
Do you have any dizziness, lightheadedness, nausea, changes in vision or hearing, or a feeling of warmth before such an event?
Children who have fainted need to be seen by a health care professional to rule out serious causes and to recommend therapy to limit or eliminate further fainting events.
You should see a Pediatric Cardiologist and Neurologist at earliest.
Hi.
Do you experience any other symptoms such as dizziness, fatigue, etc.?
Fainting spells could be a symptom of a seizure attack. If you haven't done so, consult a neurologist to evaluate your symptoms as soon as possible.
Good luck.
