Femoral Nerve Damage

by Loy52, Aug 04, 2008 11:07AM
During abdominal surgery 11 months ago the femoral nerve was either cut or crushed.  Prior to this surgery I had a slight foot drop of my left foot that back surgery in 2003 was not able to fix.  I found out the day after this last surgery, the first time I was out of bed that my left leg would buckle without warning.  Many tests and some physical therapy (all my insurance would cover) later, my neurologist said I've recovered about as much use of my leg as I will.  The manner I walk in is with a cane, sort of slapping  my leg down to lock my knee with each step.  I am under the care of a pain management physician who thinks I should take more medication than I do, however, I can't and continue to work full time.  I now, since last week have my left leg swelling during the day.  It swells from my knee to my foot, the most around my ankle.  I tried staying off my feet most of the weekend and the swelling was better but back at work, sitting at a desk today after 4 hours, it's swelling again and very painful

This discussion is related to femoral nerve damage.
