pressure build up in left ear since May 06, partial loss of hearing. Oct say ENT, broke the membrane, suctioned the ear.
4 days later incision closed, same symptons. ENT repeated procedure and placed an ear tube. 5 days later ear still draining fluid. Doc ordered a fine cut CT that showed a defect
of the left petrous bone posterolaterally, measuring 3-4 mm. Nov. sample taken from the ear canal, early am,tested positive of spinal fluid. ENT said he had only seen this twice in 15 yr practice. Referred to neurosurgeon who offered surgery to patch the defect or temporary tube, then permanent if it works, to my stomach to drain the fluid. Doc said he had only done this surgery twice before, very rare. Getting 2nd opinion late this month from Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. Anyone out there that can discuss this with me? Not sure where to turn, tired of leaking fluid, with no real explanation of what is going on.
