Headaches and sore spot on back of the head!

Headaches and sore spot on back of the head!

Hi! Couple of months ago I started getting weird headaches. They are not always very strong but enough to bother me. They come up as painful pulses and often make me dizzy. I mainly get the headaches in the mornings and they seem to get better after I have a strong coffee. I have noticed them pretty much every time when I wake up...even when I just take a nap during a day! Now, couple of days ago I noticed a sore spot on back of my head. I can only feel it when I touch it or lay my head down.
I have thought that maybe it has something to do with nerves cause I'm having lots of stress in my life at the moment.
It would be great if someone could help me with it and maybe even suggest what could help me to make it better. I do not have an health insurance at the moment and therefore wanted to see first if anybody here has an idea what it could be.
Thank you!

Let me first say that I am in no way qualified to provide a diagnosis because I am not a doctor, but having had a cyst that acted as a ball-valve causing severe headached upon waking up in the morning or from a nap, I believe that I can impart some advice.  Your description of your symptoms just sounded eerily familiar although I don't remember having a sore spot on the back of my head since my whole head ached like I was wearing a helmet of pain because of chronic severe hydrocephalus.  Those painful pulses could be your blood pressure, especially if they correspond to your heart beat.  When my  headaches started to become severe, I drank coffee by the gallons, it seemed, as that was the key for controlling the pain, in addition to loads of OTC painkillers (very dangerous).  Coffee works by constricting blood vessels, which for me, I guess, left room for my brain to swell as much as possible.

Unfortunately, I cannot suggest something that can provide relief for you other than to get yourself to a doctor ASAP.  If you do not have insurance because of job loss, try going to your state's office of occupational rehabilitation or somewhere similar that can point you in the direction for obtaining the resources (medicare) that can get you some medical help that you can afford.  Unfortunately, I was misdiagnosed for over ten years for a potentially deadly tumor/cyst, delaying diagnosis, and I did not kow what the protocol was for someone presenting with the severity and nature of the headaches that  I had been having and did not insist on having an MRI or a CT scan.  If I did not have the diagnosis and treatment when I did, I could have succombed to sudden death.

If you are online looking for information about this, plug in your symptoms, such as positional headaches (like when you wake up in the morning or from a nap) and other relevant symptoms.  Go to reputable University, Medical Association, or Brain-related sites for your information.  Those may be able to provide the information you need, but be careful to not scare yourself.  The internet is a ouble-edged sword as it can be very informative, but can also make you obsess about possible causes.

I hope this helps and doesn't scare you.  My feeling was that if I could impart some wisdom that could possibly save someone's life, then this might be appropriate.  Good luck!

DO yourself a favor and try to get at least Medicare or if you have a family member, who does have health insurance, try to be put on theirs as a dependent.
