Help have symptons of a stroke without actually having one

Hi, can someone help, I have been having numbness down the left side of my body and face and also affecting my speech, the doctors are puttung it down to a focal mirgraine, put the problem is I do not have a migraine when this happens, it can happen out of the blue.  The last attack I had the symptons were the same of someone that is having a stroke.  The doctors do not know what is causing this to happen.  I sometimes have a mirgaine two - three days after but that doesn't always happen.

Hi,

I'm not scaring you but this stroke like episodes can happen with Mitochondrial disorders. I have the exact feeling. A lactic acid test may probably rule out MELAS (Mitochondrial encephalopathy Lactic acid and stroke like episodes). In fact i am having this thing! It's due to insufficient oxygen supply to brain. Good luck!

Try asking about a hemiphlegic migraine. Your head doesnt have to hurt right when your numbness happens. I have those, my left half of my body goes numb right down to half of my tongue. Different things can set it off, smell sets mine off. They have a pill you can take when it happens to stop the numbness, and you'll probably have to wear and identification bracelet stating that you have this condition because it can be risky when you drive especially. Good luck!
