Help with head problems

by EDCCS, Mar 27, 2007 12:00AM
Okay, I've got a problem that I'm really nervous about. First off, I'm a nineteen year old female with no personal or family history of anything serious, medical wise, unless you count migraines. I work all day on a computer and I get tension headaches. Also, recently, I've been getting intense pains near my eye (migraine or sinuses due to massive allergies?), and on the left side of my head, right near my ear, rarely I'll get sharp stabbing pains there, like hot needles or something, but typically, it's just a sort of crawling feeling in that area. My entire body feels like it is vibrating (doctor said benign tremor) and I noticed that one of my eye pupils is sometimes slightly larger than the other. Usually the headaches and such only happened around my period, but I've been on tetracycline for an infection, and I know that headaches are a common side effect of tetracycline. Of course I've convinced myself it is a brain tumor or something serious like that. Anyone experience anything like that?

It is possible to have unequal pupils (anisocoria) with headache disorders-migraines and cluster headaches, I believe.  That doesn't mean for sure your unequal pupils are due to your headaches, or that it is benign in nature (I had unequal pupils with a Horner's syndrome back in '90 and it was the start of autonomic neuropathy for me), but anisocoria can be due to relatively benign causes such as the headaches you are describing.  I would tell your doctor about it anyway.
