I recently came to know that my brother fell unconcious few days back.It actually started with the symptoms of severe headche and vomiting. He was admitted to ICU. CT scan and MRI showed that there is swelling in the left side of brain and there is a "foreign external growth " in the memory part of brain.The doctors said they are not sure this could be a tumor because it was not bight enough in CT scan and MRI.what could be the problem?please help.

It might not be possible at this time to offer any treatment options, as well as side-effects and complications, because no definite diagnosis has been made yet.  It would be best to wait until further diagnostic procedures are done and your brother's doctors can come up with a definite diagnosis before any discussion on treatment plans and prognosis be made.

Hi,
In most case a MRI/CT will help in the diagnosis of any brain related pathology.It is a rarity for an MRI to leave a query .A Positron emission tomography is required to arrive at a correct diagnosis in your brothers case,.
The type and extent of the tumor should be ascertained .
Have a second opinion with a neurosurgeon befor deciding on the type of treatment.

It is possible for a brain tumor to cause these symptoms. Unfortunately, the CT scan and MRI were not diagnostic in your brother's case.  If your neurologist believes that the findings suggest a tumor, they could opt to do PET or radionuclide scanning to assist in making a diagnosis.
