I need help understanding my thoracic spine mri

mild spondylosis most marked T8-9 with disc osteophyte effaces sac and abuts the right anterior hemi cord top myelomalacia or edema.  I would really appreciate it if some one could explain what this is and how serious it could be I have lower back problems too and stay in serious pain. I just got this mri back today and not sure what it means and the nurse practitoner gave it to me and said my disc is pressing on my spinal cord...that is all that was said.. I would lke this is explained more. I know the spondylosis is arthritis but havent a clue what the rest means thank you...
