I need help!!

Hello-

Im a 25 year old male. The past 4 weeks so far have been very difficult for me. I've been dealing with major pain just behind my legs (hamstring area) which travels up through my legs and thighs down to my feet. The type of pain feels like a burning, "electric feeling" tingling pins & needles numbness which also in a way feels like a bad sunburn. In general, it's just unbearable discomfort which seems unexplainable since I haven't been injured or anything like that..

At first, I thought it might be a sign of diabetes, just because I hear that nerve pain is common in diabetic patients. I saw my doctor today and, got tested for blood glucose which came back completely normal, so he said definitely no diabetes here..

My primary care physician recommended that I give it some time to see if  the condition would improve itself, or to consult a neurologist. I would appreciate any feedback on your thoughts on what might be the problem, and what I should do. I've tried medications like Advil and Aleve, but to no avail..

I apologize in advance for the long post

Hello,

I just wanted to update everybody on my condition. I just went in today to see the neurologist for the first time to explain to him my pain/symptoms..
Several x-rays were taken of the back of legs (knee) area. He concluded that the knees were fine; however he thinks that I may have pinched the sciatic nerve, and or that my back may be out of alignment since I am having pain running from the legs down to my feet.

However, I’m starting to experience sharp, burning tingling sensations not only in my legs, but all throughout my entire body, but mostly in the legs.. and he said that this may also be due to the sciatic nerve. I've also been itching alot lately; arms hands legs.. I don't know if its related.. but he didn't say anything about that.

So now, I'm being referred to a spine specialist.. Doctor(s), what do you think?
I'm getting even more worried..
-Thanks

Hey thanks for the feedback.. I think I'm gonna go ahead and schedule an appointment with the neurologist and see what he thinks.. my thing is.. I don't think its gonna get any better since this has been going on for about 4 weeks now.. I'm stressing out over it constantly and am not getting much sleep anymore; I'm just starting to get very depressed and worried over this..

I thought about trying out some OTC vitamin B12 supplements to see if it would ease the pain.. (just because from what I've read, the body needs vitamin B12 to promote a healthy overall nervous system) but, I don't know.. maybe I should just wait..

Thanks again

Hey brother, I'm 27 and have recently been having some health problems. My advice to you is to be your own advocate, I never had any health problems before have been through the ringer this summer. My whole body feels like a pin cushion, having strange headaches. Then very aggressive about an MRI and found out I have a growth in my head. No saying you do, you probably don't but find out what is going on, or it will drive you crazy. Don't settle for your doctor when they say your anxious. you know your body better than anyone else..

Hi,

How are you?
Your symptoms are most likely due to peripheral neuropathy. Since diabetes has been ruled out, other causes like B12 deficiency need to be ruled out.
Another possibility that needs to be considered is peripheral vascular disease also known as peripheral arterial disease (PAD) which can cause symptoms like pain and weakness in the legs.
Please discuss these possibilities with your treating doctor. Take care!
