Ketamine Effects/ HIV Symptoms/ Weakening of Immune System

I did not know exactly what topic to put this in

It is now June 15 and I have finished my second semester of college. In the beginning of May my marijuana was unknowingly laced with cocaine and ketamine. A couple of days before I smoked a laced joint by myself and experienced what I know how is the "K-Hole", it felt I was floating, but being in college there was only one weed seller and I thought this was a result of the weed high. After that, stupid of me, a group of people laced my weed with Ketamine mixed with oregano again, I wasn't aware of this at the time either. I was able to taste a funny feeling in my teeth, and there was about 11 joints going around. Other people were pretending to smoke it so I thought nothing was wrong with it. This time I didn't experience the floating feeling, but after a while I found myself in a very antisocial state, and even now when I am outside now I do not say anything I just sit there quiet. My thinking and speech is blocked, I stutter alot and I've been trying to look up information online but I didnt find enough. Since May 16th I haven't been smoking marijuana. I heard that Ketamine can weaken your immune system and if you're open to insect bites you can have HIV. I have recently had a breakout on my forehead of 5 bumps, they look like pimples but are not red and one of them have white puss in the middle they are just smooth colored. I also noticed that my body is feeling weak and I have grew a strain of hair on my right shoulder. I don't know if this is because of stress of me not getting any sleep or symptoms of HIV. I would like to know what the effects of Ketamine are, as well as other drugs and want to know what drugs can cause permanent effects if laced. I've heard stories of being being "dusted" and they are never the same again, I want to know any information that can be given to me. I went to a doctor today and my doctor said these are just withdrawal effects from marijuana but all he did was ask questions and he checked my blood I should get results in 2 days.

It's hard to know what to tell you.  I'll start with what I do know.

It is an "urban myth" that ketamine lowers your immune system.  It has no effect on the immune system at all and does NOT make it easier for you to contract HIV. Period.  If you are worried about HIV on that basis, you may stop.  However, if you have had unsafe sex and would rather blame it on the ketamine, then you should be checked for HIV.  There is no evidence of HIV spread by mosquito.  When studied, the virus dies promptly in the mosquito and does does survive to be transmitted.

Ketamine is a dissociative anesthetic.  Longterm use can certainly have a difficult withdrawal, which can include causing an antisocial, but this would be very unusual with the few exposures you described.

As far as being "dusted."  that typically refers to PCP or "angel dust" and there is a lot more "damage to the brain documented with PCP than with ketamine.

I agree with you doctor.  From the way you spoke it sounds like your use of marijuana may have been heavier or longer term than you actually stated.  You may, indeed, be withdrawing from that.  Another problem to consider is general depression which can cause feelings like you are describing.  I recommend seeing a counselor, preferably one knowledgable in drug effects and addiction so that you can get your questions answered correctly and not by campus mythology.

There is also a forum here on MedHelp devoted to Substance abuse and Addiction.  I don't know how reliable the info will be there as it is Patient-to-Patient and not monitored by the docs.  There is also a forum on depression.  that one actually might be useful for you.  Just post the same info there.

I just checked, if you can get a post inot the Mental Health Doctor forum, he is up-to-date on answering questions.

Take care of youself and get some help.  Good luck, Quix
