Hello,
I just recently had an MRI of my lower back and left hip without contrast.
I have a few questions.
1. What does a 9mm lesion in the left femoral neck that is hypointense on T1 and faintly hyperintense on T2?
--it suggests mild trochanteric bursitis of my hip. Which i assume explains the crazy pain in my hip. It also recommends a follow up contrast enhanced study for further study
2. What does it mean to have multiple small Hemangiomas noted within the lumbar vertabral bodies?
--the report says I have degenerative disk desiccation of the L4/L5 and L5/S1.
My history.
I've been telling my doctor my hip and lower back hurts for about two years. It has gotten worse over time to the point of losing sleep, affecting my job, riding my bike and so on. He also knows I have been taking about 800 to 1200 mg of Ibuprofen a day for the pain. I hate taking medication of any kind.
When I got the MRI I got to see briefly the results on the monitor. I saw my discs and could tell some of them were a different color.
I called my doctor for the results and he told me about my hip. (For the most part I understand bursitis and will most likely get a shot of cortizone) He was about to hang up the phone when I stopped him and asked him about my back. He said it's just a slight bulging disc and that it DOES NOT CAUSE ME PAIN. I was a little irked that he told me it doesn't hurt me when I've been telling him it does for 2 years now.
He told me to start a regimen of Motrin. Which is odd because he knows how much Ibuprofen I take. I called back an hour later and asked them to send me my chart and test results. After I got to read this myself, I saw the lesion and hemangioma stuff. I also apparently have a 3cm cyst on my left ovary of which he failed to tell me.
So question number 3. Am I valid for being upset with my doctor? Should he have told me about this stuff? Thanks for reading.
