MRI foot cysts

3 years ago, I had a melanona removed from my foot. Now, I have 2 lumps close to the scar of my removed melanona.
My doctor does not think this a re-occurrence of a melanoma because the skin on the lumps have no color. He thinks that the lumps are cysts because I am a runner & run everyday.

Question: WE are going to have a MRI to determine if these lumps are cysts and not melanona lesion. Can an MRI determine "CONCLUSIVELY" a cysts from a melanoma lesion/mass?

Hi,

Thanks for writing in.
MRI is a very useful tool to visualize soft tissues. It will be able to differentiate a melanoma from a cyst. Melanoma will be seen as hard tumor while cyst will be seen as a fluid filled space.
Hope this answers your question.
