MS, ALS, Parkinsons..Could it be?

Hello..I am writing reguarding my husband. I have also posted this on a couple other boards. My husband is 34 and since his return from Iraq 3 years ago he has been having a few issues. In late 03' he had routine blookwork that showed underactive thyroid, & high liver enzymes. He was told it was a fatty liver and nothing else came from that..Early summer 04' out of nowhere his whole body started to cramp up. He would twist & turn every which way due to these spasms. This lasted nearly an hour. The Dr. felt it was due to the heat & not enough water. Well, at least 3-4 times a month since then this happens to him, and when he isn't having full body spasms, his legs/ or stomach cramp up. He recently went back to his Dr. due to his legs jerking while asleep. He was Dx'ed with Restless Leg Syndrome given med's & had more blood work done. His blood came back again with high level liver enzymes. Dr. said the cramps were probably due to the liver, but to be safe he wants to send him to a Neuro to rull out MS, Parkinsons, and ALS. He has no muscle weakness, no slurred speech, he doesn't trip. Just severe muscle spasms that have been happening for just over 2 yrs. Does this sound like the symptoms of any of these? We are very worried. Thanks for any information.

Could he have had major heavy metal or other toxin exposure while in Iraq?  Your liver is your major detox organ - the elevated levels could possibly be because it can't keep up with the system overload.  Another alternative avenue is parasites - I would think that the return from a foreign country and onset of new symptoms would be related and perhaps think out of the box a bit.  Both types of testing need to be done by specialists.

I do not want to overlaod you but I too have experienced heavy metal poisoning and I am going through  oral chelation treatment with the Canadian College of Naturopathic medicine since 15/11/2006.  I was exposed to mercury poisoning from the silver fillings in my mouth for over 30 years.  I experienced a lot of your husband's symptoms including slurred speech and eventual loss of speech. when I got those stomach cramps I my body would lean forward involuntarily. In April 2003 I endend up in a  wheelchair for 3 1/2 years. With removal of the fillings and chelation to remove the mercury poisoning.  I am out of the wheelchair and no longer need a voice amplifier. I still walk with a cane and my speech is not a 100% as yet.  The chelation takes time and good diet is necessary; but, getting this heavy metal from my body is giving me new life! I hope to return to work in Feb/07 after being off since 27/09/06 due to the loss of speech. Good Luck!

Thanks for your replies.  We haven't thought about heavy metal poisioning, but we will look into it.  I do know a little about mercury poisioning though, as 2 of our 3 kids are autistic.  Once again thanks for the info.

Hi there.. I have MS and all those symptoms can be MS.  Since MS interferes with the brain, the whole body is affective.
