My daughter is almost 12 and just barely started puberty. She had been very sick for the past four days with flu like symptoms. She rarely gets sick or runs very high fevers. This virus made her pretty ill and she was running 102.7 at her highest temp. This was accompanied with heavy cough, congestion, chills, aches, stomach ache and loss of appetite (she ate very little in 3 days). I made an appt. for yesterday afternoon and her fever broke an hour or two before we went in. We went anyway because i wanted to see if we had or were dealing with the flu virus. It was not but my dr. decided to get blood and check her whitel blood cell count. The nurse did the finger ***** method and squeezed for a long time to get enough blood. As soon as she finished my daughter said she was dizzy, then her body slumped to her left side and she had a minor seizure. It lasted only about 30 seconds and she just jerked lightly. When it was over she couldn't remember it but said right before it felt like someone put something on her head and like a fuzzy tv set was going off in her head. After she was white as could be and they had her lie down and put her feet high in the air to get blood going back to her head. They did not seem concerned and said it probably happened because she saw the blood and was weak already. My daughter reminded me that she had a bloody nose a long time ago (I wasn't around at the time) but she said when she saw the blood she felt sick and thought she passed out on her bed for a minute. I didn't take it seriously because my daughter can be dramatic but now I think that may be very true. She never used to be squeemish. I ma just concerned that it wasn't just fainting but a seizure. Could being weak and seeing blood really cause a seizure. I am concerned about it happening again. Should i be worried?
