Hi Sherry,
I too have a strange taste in my mouth. It is minty, but strange. I am wondering if i've had too many antibiotics and am having a with a systemic candida problem. My doctors all say there's no such thing, unless you have a high fever. The naturopathic doctors disagree. (I have also had some exposure to mold in the past.)
Mine can move up the back of my neck into my head and give me bizarre headaches.
Hello
I suffer from panic attacks also i am still taking drugs (1,1/2years).
The panic attacks have stopped about a year before. But it is about 4 months now that i am having a strange taste in my mouth and i feel dizzy and a little strange. i cannot understand what it is causing it pls help me. I read your comments but it is not "hyperventilation" nor it happens when i am stressed. Perhaps when i am a little tired. I also have anaimia (low iron). i open to ideas.
Hello:)
Thank you so much for your response. Here is another question/concern that I have. Now, when I first started having the symptoms mentioned above, the Neurologist thought it might be partial seizures. When I had the EEG, everything was normal. Now, he told me that the seizures would only show up if I was having one at the time of the test, but the EEG tech told me that an EEG would show past brainwaves, as well. Could these episodes still possibly be partail seizures? The tsate I am having is definitely not esphageal reflux, since I also have issues with that and both tastes are quite different. Also, the taste only appears when the episodes are present. I have pinpointed them occurring when I am upset (mad, sad, frustrated, etc...) There are times when I can stop them only after a minute or two, but then there are other times when I cannot and they last 5-7 minutes. What do you think?
Take care,
Sherry
Hmmm...I have to say that I may have jumped to a conclusion with the idea of hyperventilation. Partial complex seizures may indeed be a possiblility. I would believe the neuro over the tech. Most seizure types do show some abnormality even when an active seizure is not occurring, but this is not true of all types and partial complex may be one of the exceptions. Has the neuro suggested a prolonged, outpatient EEG? The idea is that they wire you up and send you out (with the worst bed-head in the world, lol!). Your EEG is then recorded on a recorder attached to your belt.
Wow, your description reminded me of something I had repeatedly when younger- I would say about puberty through young adulthood. I had completely forgotten abot them. I would have these weird episodes where it felt like I had dropped out of sync with everything around me. It felt like I was moving either faster or slower than everyone else (I could never remember which). I always felt amused that no one could tell that I was being different. AND, just like you I had a strange taste on the middle of my tongue, partway back that tasted like yeasty bread dough. Sometimes I could will myself out of it, but I always felt strange for a while. They always occurred when I was studying a lot and probably tired.
I researched it in med school and decided they had been mild, temporal lobe seizures.
Temporal lobe seizures are now called partial complex seizures (but they generally have their origin in the temporal lobe ((less commonly in the frontal lobe.)) Check out this link and see what you think.

Again, I would trust the neuro doc and follow up with him. Good luck, Quix
Have you considered Hyperventilation Syndrome? The common symptoms are numbness around or in the mouth, tightness or odd feeling in the throat, dizziness, tingling most often in the hands, but sometimes in the feet, strange feelings, chest pressure or pain. It is most common in people with a tendency toward anxiety. If this sounds familiar, then google "hyperventilation." Read about it, and if it seems possible then discuss it with your doc. It's totally treated usually without meds. Certainly you've been through enough to warrant some anxiety.
Also some of your symptoms suggest esphageal reflux. Could this be playing a role?
Good luck, Quix
