Myxopapillary ependymoma - pain following surgery

Hi, I had back surgery 4 months ago to remove a myxopappilary empendymoma from my spine (a benign tumour). Pre surgery a lot of my pain was in my lower back on the left hand side which radiates down my thighs. I can pin point on my left side by pressing where it hurts the most. What I need to know is whether this is at all related to the tumour? Or is it something different? Is it muscle problems following limited range of movement for 18 months? They cut nerves to get the tumour out - is it nerve pain? My back spasms alot leaving me in agony. It does pass in a few days though just leaving me stiff again with the pain in the lower left back and legs. It is like it pulsates?

Any suggestions?

I am on Tramadol, napraxen & now lyrica as well.

Thanks
Kelly

Hi!

How old are you? I had a myxopappilary ependymoma (age 14) 2000 and a recurrence 2007. They didn´t do radiation afterwards. It can be cured by gross-total resection and the recurrence rate is about 20 %. If subtotal resection, radiation can be a alternative. (I had gross-total resection) Its more likely to have a recurrence if you are young.

I didnt have any radiation or anything like that afterwards. Should I have done? What is the likelihood of reoccurance?

Thanks
