Need on explenation please!!!

I have recently had a  water like highlighter yellow liquid dripping out of my nose. It first started in the shower, it felt like a nose bleed. I got out of the shower and it was pouring, until it stopped but when blow drying my hair it started to pour out again. I havent had a cold recently but 2 weeks ago I had a bad fall and hurt my head serverly and was suffered concussion... then this? Could it be related?
I took 2 trips to the ER.. First I went when it started but I didnt have and head ache, nausa.. but that later developed in the night where I woke to myself vomitting and as I was leant on vomitting my nose started to drip again the same yellow fluid.. I tried to sleep it off but when I woke the next more it happened yet again so I went back to the ER.. As im concerned for myself.  They ran other tests ... CT scan came back ok.. my white bld count was on the high side and they wanted to do an LP.. I was scared however and though I might just go home and try to wait it out.. My head ache is horrible, piering pain that comes in waves, im sensitive to the light... should I still be concerned? I never really got any anwsers of what it was exactly??

Hi, I am just amazed at all these posts about this neon yellow fluid coming out of peoples noses. Any chance it could be related to this environment we live in with all the radiation we are getting from all the cell phones and computers etc... Has this ever been considered? My daughter has this now and the doctor told her she had never heard of it. She did have a head injury a few years ago, but not since then. She never had her head x-rayed, but she had to get stitches on her forehead from running into a wall. I strongly feel this is related to the radiation coming form electronics but no one knows it yet. I am an energy healer and I am very connected to energy and I feel so much negative radiation emanating from phones it is unbelievable. I can't hold one up to my ear without feeling a horrible throbbing and burning sensation that goes straight down my eardrum. Looking forward to hearing a reply. :)

I'm 59 and have had sinus problems most of my life. In 1992 I had sinus surgery to remove polyps in my left sinus cavity. I suffer from chronic sinus infections and was put on a daily dose of Singulair and Clarinex to keep them at bay. This has worked well for me for many years now. I recently misplaced my Singulair and did not realize I was not taking it. Soon after I began having sinus problems again, including the yellow runny fluid and migraine pain. I realized this morning what I had done and am now back on the right meds. I assume it will take time for the meds go kick in and out my sinuses back on kilter. I still made an appointment with my ENT for this problem. So I will let you know the results.

Im not a Dr. however, if the CSF runs through the sinus doesn't it make sense for the fluid to be yellow in color? My daughter has a slight cold that runs perfectly clear. However, idiopathically, she has a severe runny nose that is yellow and the consistency of water. She has had 4 head injuries. I do think CSF is a real possibility. I think to air on the side of caution, all individuals with this issue should immediately be put on antibiotics to avoid the risk of infections to the lining of the brain. If this persists, these people should have a CT scan, and the fluid that is running from the nose should be tested for Beta 2 Transferrin. If anything, this will provide peace of mind. Thanks for you time, Sabrina Clark

Thank you so much for your help on this topic.
Just an update for your own interest.. I have been in hospital the past couple of weeks, turns out it was brain fluid. I cracked my skull just above my right temple. I suffered what was called a 'Mini Stroke' and was then hospitalized and started to take it all abit more serious.
Im now starting to feel much much better, it has been a horrible scare.
Thank you for all your help.

Hun, are you scared to get the LP done?  Is that why you're putting up with this pain?
I just recently had my first one, and honestly, it wasn't that bad....I do have a high tolerance for pain, though.... I was afraid of the 'unknown' before going, but it was over pretty fast and didn't hurt that much at all...I would describe it as pretty uncomfortable.
If the doctor's think you need one, then maybe you should go ahead with it....

Hope you feel better soon.

Thank you so much for your response!
If the headaches persist and the fluid keeps on, then I will go back and have the LP. Im abit scared however, I heard some horror stories. So im trying to wait it out, my head in pain.. even with taking Tylenol/with Codeine.. I still feel the migrane.
Do you suggest I go back and do the LP?
I would like an explantion to what exactly it is.. so my own mind is put at ease.
Thanks again.

Hello.

You may have injured and inflamed one of the paranasal sinuses. This yellow fluid does not look like CSF. Anyways, there is a simple test for CSF. If a drop of it is taken on the sugar strip (the one used to measure sugars in urine) it will turn positive for glucose. But this is not the absolute confirmation that it is CSF

When are you planning the LP?

Regards
