Neuralgiform Question

About 6 weeks ago I started getting mild, random, shooting pains and throbs on the left side of my face (maxillary distribution) after upping my multivitamins and my neurologist has diagnosed me with trigeminal neuralgia.  The paperwork clearly states I do NOT fit the classic profile of TN (no conjunctival tearing, no sinus issues, no autonomic symptoms) of SUNCT.  MRI was fine and blood work only showed extreme elevation of b6 >100 with a max of 32.8 ug/L. I believe I have b6 toxicity but my neurologist PA disagrees with toxicity.  I do have some of the toxicity symptoms and I have recently quit those supplements.  I still taking vitamin D (I am deficient) and some amounts of magnesium to reach RDA.  What I want to know, is what is really going on with my face.  I am doing acupuncture, and, as of Monday the shooting pains have stopped, but the random throbs (as it's just one at a time, several times a day) continues.  I'm not sure if Tylenol is helping and sometimes I'll rub lavender essential oil on the place where it hurts. Not sure if that helps either.  My neuro just prescribed a low dose of Prozac (5mg).  I'd really like to know what is going on since I really don't fit the TN/SUNCT category.  Any insight would be appreciated.

I will ask about t3 and t4, didn't know about TPO, but blood work did check for lupus and lyme disease, both normal.  CBC fine, CMP only elevations were on bilirubin (slight), and major on my b6.  ACE, C-Reactive, sedimentation rate and rheumatoid arthritis all normal.
Orders only state free T4 and TSH, I added t3 and tpo.

When they check ur thyroid, ask them to also look at possible auto immune thyroid issues as u can have a problem, but get normal readings...so instead of just testing TSH they need to also test free T3, free T4, TPO antibodies .....

If ur D levels have not gone up u may need to increase ur dosage so ask ur Dr about that too....

What does the report day?

Thanks.  They did MRI of brain and the report said "unremarkable uncontrasted MRI".  I have the report and the copy of the MRI. Did not do neck.  I'm also on probiotics for absorption issues as my Vit D was low.  I'm getting blood tested again next week for b6, D, and thyroid.  Anything else you think I should get checked?

  Hi and welcome to MedHelp.

I am not a medical professional, but I wanted to ask, u said u had a MRI, what area was done?..cervical spine or brain? Do u have copies of the MRI and the report?

U mentioned a toxicity to B6...I actually developed one to Vit D as my magnesium was far too low to absorb the D, plus I have EDS which affects the absorption of vitamins and minerals be it from the food I eat or supplements...I was glad to see u take magnesium.

B4 getting on a med like Prozac I would review the MRI and the report and get another opinion....JMHO.
