Drs. are to be treated no better then your plumber, painter etc. You are paying him for his services. He should sit down with you and give you all the information to help you deal with this. Pts think that Drs. are Gods, and know everything. A good Dr. will have a personal repore with you as a pt. For me anxiety does play a big role with my neuropathy. And it comes on so quick. People don't understand the magnatude of -pain we are in. It affects my hands, and feet. They burn so bad, and I feel like I am walking on nails. I worked with Drs. for a very long time. They are just people like us.Some Drs. walk around and act so stupid, like you are to bow down to them. If he comes in and spends 5 minutes and walks out, find a new Dr. and report him to AMA. Cause trust me he gets paid good for his services so he better sit down look you in the eye, and help you, Sincerely debby5360
The neurologist was the one who thought that it was anxiety related BUT it didn't go away when I took the depression medicine. I also was not having the same symptoms then. I only had neuropathy in my temples, now it's pretty much all over my body, mostly in my legs. I really need to go see another neurologist because it has been about 5 years since I have seen one and the symptoms have gotten worse. A did have an EMG done 6 years ago and it was normal but now that things have changed so much, I think I so have it done again. It is very frustrating and I just wish I knew what the heck was wrong!!!! Good luck and let us know when you find out what is wrong.
Oliviasmom ~ I will pray that it isn't MS and you find out real soon what is going on. :)
Have you seen a neurologist. A nerve conduction or EMG would be usefull to see if something else is going on. I have neuropathy and will be seeing a second neurologist at ucsf. For a long time Doctors told me I was depressed and had anxiety. Now they are proved wrong. Im still trying to find out what is causing it, but Im very close. If you feel something is wrong dont let them dismiss you. It can be frustrating. Good luck
Hi why did they think your neuropathy was anxiety related , I'm only asking because
my symptoms ( tightband feeling in legs and arms, and parathesia always elevate when I am stressed I have had a negative lymes test too and and a possibel MS diagnosis
Yes, they did a lyme test several times and the blood work was all negative. Thank you though!
Have you been evaluated for lyme disease? It can cause neuropathy all over your body.
Bump, I posted this before I wanted to see if I could get a response!
Thank You!
HI! I am 28 years old and I have had neuropathy throughout my entire body for the past 6 years. It started right after I had my daughter....by c-section, after general anethesia (put to sleep) and an epidural. I haven't had any recent tests done because I just had another baby (had a spinal this time). If I wanted to get blood work done, what tests should I ask for? What other tests could be done to determine the cause? MRIs...of what area?
I have thyroid antibodies but they are not affecting my thryoid levels yet. I have been tested for LUPUS several times and my ANA usually comes back negative. Rhum dr says that I may be a carrier for LUPUS and may be diagnosed later on in life. I also am allergic to CIPRO and was prescribed CIPRO and LEVAQUIN shortly after having my daughter 6 years ago. Could this be a symptom of any of these things?
I have been told that my neuropathy stems from anxiety but I just don't think so. I took depression medicine (Effexor) for 2 years and they NEVER stopped.
