Hello.
Till you get to visit a neurologist, you can find a suitable position of the head which relieves your pain. Drink a lot of water and avoid strenuous exercise.
The occipital headaches may also be from high blood pressure. You will need a thorough neurological and general examination.

Thank you for answering my question.I don't remember jerking my neck. Is it a serious problem? How can they tell that is what it is? Is there anything I can take to relieve the annoying pain I get when it starts. I don't have a primary phsycian at the moment. I moved to Pa and haven't had the time to find one. Thanks again.
Hello.
The headache you have described can be called occipital headache. It can originate from the neck, where there are occipital nerves in the neck. You should have had a jerk to the neck to stretch these nerves and produce headache.
Another possibility is that of hypertension. High blood pressure can also cause such headaches. It is always better to get this evaluated by a doctor.
