Paitent having epileptogenic, what should be the right treatment

2948397?1211600991
My son is now 3 yrs old. He had tendency of high fever  and convalsion. At the age of 1 yr 2 months he had 1st convalsion on fever 102degree F,after 2 months he had viral fever (102-103 degreeF) with 3 times convalsion within 24hrs.
After 1 1/2 yrs of that he gad again high fever (104.2degreeF) and convalsion .After 1 month of that, we have done EEG,that report is showing that "this is an abnormal eeg, presence of epileptogenic activity at sub-cortical level.".I used ti give him crocin syrup and Frisium 5mg -half a tablet twice a day if his fever goes above 100degreeF.
His ped gave him Valparin200 2.5ml twice a day for 2yrs.

I want to know if the medication is right, does it have side effects?

Secondly, what should be a do's and don'ts for such paitents. How much time does it take to cure such desiese.
