Periventricular Microangiopathy

I've had PD for 4 1/2 yrs now and my mouth movements (lip compression, weakness in transferring saliva to throat) are getting worse.  Just spent three days in local hospital and received the results of the MRI.  Can you decipher these findings of the MRI?   Wont see doctor for another two weeks.
1.  Subacute lacunar infarction involving the left parietal high convexity region.  There is no intracrania hemorrhage
2.  Severe degree of Periventricular Microangiopathy.
3.  4mm mucous retention cyst or polyp involving the right maxillary sinus.

Thank you so much..

Hello.

I will try my best to describe what the MRI says.

1. A lacunar infarct means a small area of dead nerve cells. This area is on the convex surface of the brain, on the left side. Parietal lobe is the prominent lobe on the lateral and convex side of the brain.

2. A microangiopathy means some problem with small blood vessels. It is surrounding the ventricles (fluid filled spaces in the brain tissue).

3. A retention cyst is a collection of secretions. This is in the maxillary sinus (the empty space in the cheek bone)

Please revert to me for any information you might want.

Regards

Hello.

I am sorry for the late response to your latest query.

First, I would like to know if you have visited your Neurologist. Can you share what came out of the discussion ?

I can not say if it was a stroke, as I have not clinically examined you. But if you were admitted in the hospital for worsening of your PD symptoms, a stroke looks unlike. Or were you admitted for any other symptoms ?

Additionally, the lacunar infarct is usually a result of high blood pressure. Do you have a high blood pressure problem ?
