Pernicious Anemia

I am an 18 year old male college student. I was diagnosed two years ago with a vitamin b-12 deficiency. I began taking monthly injections to return my levels to normal. It was later determined that I also had pernicious anemia. About 7 months ago my symptoms of fatigue, weakness, burning, stinging, sharp pain returned. My doctor checked my b-12 level which was determined to be at 3000. Since my level was said to be normal it was assumed by my doctor that i was suffering from peripheral neuropathy caused by nerve damage during the period I went without enough b-12. I am now taking Gabapentin 300mg which seemed to help at first but no longer did. Finally one ER physician decided to try me on lyrica which actually worked. After taking it for two months i was fine without any problems until my insurance company decided to no longer cover lyrica. My doctor was then forced to try alternate medications; gabapentin, effexor, and carbemezepine. None of which worked. I am in an intense amount of pain and even have some difficulty walking. I spend most of my time now in bed. I am concerned with what may have even caused my b-12 to be low and whether I am suffering from an underlying condition as well that is also contributing to my chronic pain. Being on a college campus and far from home makes it difficult to receive proper treatment. Can someone please help me? My pain has gotten so bad to the point where it is difficult for me to continue going to classes daily.

Are you still taking B12?  Being low in this can cause a lot of neurological problems.  You should also consider folic acid.  When B12 is low, a lot of times folic acid levels are low too.
