Pevic Pain

by delgrosso, Sep 28, 2008 05:05PM
I have just found this site , and I am hoping maybe someone can help.  I have suffering from unexplained pelvic pain which seems to change in its pattern daily.  It is mainly left sided and is sited mainly around the perineium.  It is a crawling/burning/numb/aching type pain and it also feels at times as if there is something in my vagina/rectum.  I have a historical spinal injury fracture L2 18 years ago and all the reading I have done seems to me that this could be a neurological problem possibly to do with the pudendal nerve??? Have been everywhere and seen everyone and feel I am going mad.  The pain just came one quite suddenly.  It is uncomfortable to sit and lying is the best although it does take considerable time to be comfortable enough at night to sleep.  Any sugestions would be really appreciated.

This discussion is related to sciatic and pudendal nerve problems.

I'm not sure if this will help or not but I am also trying to find out if I have pudendal problems.  There are not many doctors in the country who know about the nerve so I would suggest looking up the website www.pudendalinfo.com.  One symptom of PN is the feeling of an object inside the rectum or vagina.  I don't have this feeling but I do have unexplainable vaginal pain, which is also another symptom.  And the pain around your sit-bone is another big indicator.  From what I understand the longer you wait the worse it can get and if it's caught early enough it can either be cleared up completely or managed at a tolerbale level.  The only real diagnostic test that they have is a CT guided injection into the nerve and if you feel immediate relief then you have PN.  I'm going in for one on the 25th of this month and if you'd like to keep in touch with me I can let you know how it goes.  But like I said, there are only a handfull of specialists.  One is in Arizona, who is the one I'm seeing (Dr. Hibner) and I know there is one in Texas as well as Minnesota (I think).  But the websites you should visit are www.pudendal.info.com and www.pudendalhelp.com.  Hope that helps somewhat.
