What is my doc testing me for? Doctors?

Hi~

I went to see a new neurologist after having had some episodes of extreme leg weakness to the point of not being able to walk.  I also have a new history of "complicated migraines."  Never got the headache, just hours of the aura where I had trouble walking and talking.  (All symptoms started two and a half years ago.)  I also have had episodes of vertigo, wear hearing aids for sensorineural hearing loss, bilaterally, and arm weakness.

My exam was pretty good.  I fell to the side when I closed my eyes standing up, and I had areas of decreased sensation ALL over -- here and there.  Mostly in my feet and under my chest.  I also had very hyper reflexes in my legs.  My last neuro found the Babinski's reflex, but I'm not sure if this doc did.

My previous neuro thought I had suffered a brain infection and am convelescing right now, but this doc, says, No way.  My exam looked too good for it to have been a brain infection.  He also said he didn't think I had an "active illness."

He has ordered all the previous tests I have had done -- MRIs (all normal), blood work and such, but has also ordered:

ESR  (normal in the past)
ANA
ANCA
B12 (normal in the past)
folate
CPK

Also : EEG, SSEP, ENG, AEP

What do you think he's looking for? (I am a 43 yr old otherwise healthy woman)

I appreciate your time.  Thank you!

Hi,
I have gone through your symptoms which signify that you might be having vertigo which was confirmed with the help of examination (you said you were off balance while closing your eyes).
There are other symptoms signifies you might be having neuropathy. To assess the cause of neuropathy the doctor had earlier done some test like Vitamin B12.
Now he wants to assess whether any Connective Tissue Disorder exists by doing ANA and ANCA test.
There are other test which he is asking is to see whether any Neuromuscular disorder or motor neuron disease is persisting or not.
Keep me informed if you have any queries.
Bye.

Also~

He observed tremors in my head and right hand, which have gotten so much better now, but used to be quite embarrassing...

Thanks!
