Post partum illness/sleeping problems

Hey everyone,

I am a month post-partum and my life has been hell since giving birth.

I was induced and had an epidural.

The day after I gave birth I developed sleeping problems.

Everytime I try to sleep, I get muscle spasms in my legs, even in my head.
I get weird sensations like I am falling. It's like a wave. I don't even know how to
describe it. I never had it before.

A few nights ago, I even got what felt like an electric shock in my head.
I wake up during the night a lot. It's so uncomfortable and scary
I feel like I'll never sleep normal again!!!!!!!!!

I also get weird feelings like I stop breathing when I sleep.
I've had some mental problems as well. Just feeling weird and sickly.

I've also got tingling in my shoulder, and my ear crackles a lot.
And I've been feeling very VERY sick. Shortness of breath, pressure
in my head, etc. I have this weird sick feeling I can't describe.

Every minute is a living hell!

I have been in and out of the ER. Always come back with a clean bill of health,

I feel like a prisoner in my own body.

The doctors say I am fine physically, but I feel like I am dying.
And I just want to be able to sleep normal again! It's killing me!
I still have it after a month!

The doc says I have post partum depression, but the only reason I am
depressed is because I am having these problems!
I feel like they will never go away!!!

What should I do? Any ideas on what is causing all my pain?
I have had blood tests, EKG, urine tests, chest X ray, all normal.
What other tests should I get done?? I just want to feel like my old self again.
I am scared. Everyone says it's all in my head but I know that it is NOT!!

I feel so ill I can barely function.

PLEASE HELP!! :(

Sorry it posted before I was done.
If you don't try to get help from friends and family. Do you know anything about Postpartum depression?  Just a little info about it. It is caused by the major changes in hormones your body goes through after you have the baby. Some women (A lot )  have a mild reaction to the change( called the baby blues) Some women it is much more severe and it causes an array of problems. Now, about your physical problems,  it sounds like the epidural could be responsible for that, your symptoms seem to support that. You need to make an appointment with a neurologist to see whats up with that. Best of luck to you. P.S. there is a wonderful book by Brooke Shields telling her struggle with post partum depression. It is called " Down came the rain" hang in there.

My parents are helping me with the baby.

I've been feeling so sick, I can't take care of her.
This is my first baby and was my first epidural.

I'm scared and I need help but my insurance only goes so far.
I don't know what to do or where to turn :(

I'm  sorry you are feeling soo sick, what a hard thing to go through with a new little one. Is this your first baby, first epidural? First off you are NOT crazy. I will tell you something i was told by a doctor, it helped me immensely, " If you think you are crazy , you're not, when people are crazy they dont know they are!" I am not a doctor but my opinion is you are having both physical and emotional problems. Did the doctor tell you why/what for you are taking three antidepressants for? They should tell you what each one is expected to do, also most antidepressants take a few weeks to really get working. Do you have anyone to help you with the baby? I
