I have had trigeminal nerve pain in the V2 R area now for 8months. The constant background pain with flair ups from cold, wind, touch, ect. No one can tell me exactally if it is atypical trigminal neuralgia or something else and how to fix it. I am considering seeing a neurosurgeon, but not sure. I have had a mri and everything is normal. I am 29 so they were checking mostly for ms. I was told that I should get a block (not sure exactly what that is), and if that works then I should consider seeing a neurosurgeon. Can you tell me what a block is and what the risks are? Also If it is atypical tn, should I see a neurosurgeon for MVD? Could the MVD surgery work on atypical tn?
Thanks, Jtalli
