Ruptured disks

Ruptured disks

I have had surgery on ruptured disks.  C3,C4,and C5 have been fused together. While I always have some sort of dull pain daily, during the past 5 months or so, I have been having stabbing pain in BOTH shoulder blades.  Some days my right side hurts more than the left but it is constant.  Have I ruptured another disk?  Is there a nerve that connects to both sides of my shoulder blades.  I feel weird about asking b/c the pain moves back and forth...is this all in my head?  Thank you for any advice you may have.  I do have an appt. with my ortho surgeon next week but I really don't want to embarrass myself.  Robin

I had the anterior C5 fusion 8 years ago then C4 through C7 blew out and I had that done from the back, I have a 7 inch scar from up inside my hair line down my spine.  I haven't gotten relief and it's been almost 2 years.  They did another MRI and found that they missed some bone spurs inside the C7 branch that is now making my whole upper back swell continuously and my left arm is numb and hurts to touch.  I can't drive because my head won't turn to the left.  I have to hire someone to take me to the store and doctors appts.  I was pretty bad before the surgery, the pain was horrible but after the surgery the pain is still horrible.  I have had to up my medications to morphine 2x a day with vicodin backup.  I can only walk about 1/4 mile.  I was a nurse for years and I blew up my neck preventing a patient from falling following a stroke.  I don't know if I will ever get better.  I don't want to do any more surgery.  I have a diverticuli in my throat from the first surgery that causes me to choke and throw up sometimes when things get stuck in there.  Pretty much I have a completely different life now.  I don't know what to recommend to anyone with similiar problems, the before is as bad as the after.
