Head Pain & Dizziness

I've had head pain & dizziness for over 2 years now.  These symptoms last 24/7.  The head pain is on the top left side of my head above my left ear near the middle of my skull.  If I pull my hair back, I can feel it even more.  It feels like it's between my skin and skull.  The dizziness makes me feel like I'm constantly falling in what ever direction I'm leaning.  The dizziness also makes me feel "out of it" all the time.

I've seen several ENT's, Neurologists, Physicians, Psychiatrists, etc.  I've had an MRI on my head and another on my neck.  I've had numerous tests done on my inner ear, and I've had many blood tests as well.  Nothing has shown up so far from any of these tests.

The ENT believed that it may be caused by Vestibular Neuronitis, but his treatments did not work.  My Psychiatrist believes I have a panic/anxiety dissorder and prescribed me xanax to help with the panic attacks that I was having as a result.  To my surprise, xanax helped the dizziness go away, but not the head pain.  I went back to all my doctors, and they all agreed that if xanax is helping with the dizziness, then I should continue to take that on a daily basis.  Their logic was: I'm going to have to take some form of medication for the rest of my life and if xanax helps, then that's what I should take.  If I don't take it, my dizziness comes back, the head pain gets worse, and working is almost impossible.

Here are my questions:

I hit my head some 10+ years ago in a 3 wheeler accident.  Could this all be a residual effect from that?

This first started happening when my wife and I visited Mexico a couple of years ago.  Could this be caused from accidentaly drinking the water?

The only test I haven't done is an MRI on my spine.  Could this be a spinal infection of some sort?

I just want to get back to feeling normal again, without medication.  Has anyone heard of symptoms like this and can anyone help?

Thanks.

Thanks, but I've been taking it for over a year now.  The doctors told me it's addictive, but otherwise safe if used as prescribed.  I can go without it, and have done so, but my symptoms worsen the longer I do.  I have to be able to work, so until I can figure out what's causing my symptoms or find a cure, I'm going to have to take it.  I've tried numerous other drugs, treatments, physical, & mental therapy, and nothing else has worked.

Due to the length of time I've been taking xanax, you may believe that my symptoms are caused by xanax, but that's not the case either.  I didn't start taking it unitl 6 months after my symptoms showed up.  It was by chance that I even noticed that it worked.

I appreciate your advice, but I'm looking for possible answers to what my condition is so I can find a solution.  Preferrably one without meds.  If anyone has heard of such symptoms or knows a better way to treat them, please help.  Thanks again.
