Sharp pain inner thighs

The pain I experience is usually in my left inner thigh but last week it was in both of my inner thighs.  The pain is a slicing excruciating pain that is horrible.   I have had three children so I know what pain is, but this is horrible pain.  It feels like someone is stabbing me.

It doesn't happen very often and I have experienced this pain for the past several years.   I am 58 years old, I am 5'8" and weigh 165 lbs.  I exercise frequently and am in good health. The only medication I take is celebrex for arthritus, estratest, and synthoid.

I have been to a back doctor, a neurologist and no one seems to be able to find the cause.  Every time it happens it scares me to death.  There is absolutely no pain or soreness after the pain ceases.  It usually doesn't last over 5 minutes.  But five minutes of horrible pain is enough!

Any ideas?  Any remedies?  Help!  Nelllie

Please consider an arterial occlusion.. in light of your severe pain, burning and profuse sweating, with changes in your blood pressure-

Emergency room doctors usually check for a DVT- known as a venous thrombosis or blood clot, but they don't usually assess for an arterial clot which can also cause those symptoms you have described. Not to scare you..

I read several posts. I will try to be concise. I see a Pain Management Clinic. I know that a lot of people do like the idea of narcotic pain killers, but I tell you when my back pain shifted to the inner thigh area it has been hell. Someone described feeling it immediately after getting up from a prone or lying position--wow, I thought someone else described my experience to a tee.  I won't bother telling you the names of types of pain medicine unless someone wants to know, but all I know is 15 minutes after taking my medicine...it is like manna from Heaven. I can clean up, stand in the shower, get on the computer, perform normal routine activities. I am blessed that I am a disabled veteran who also receives Social Security Disability. I am retired Army so between the two insurances, Tricare and Medicare I have no co pays. I also discovered I had breast cancer so underwent a double mastectomy and reconstruction. But, I digress I only mentioned that to say that even undergoing chemo and saline injections for reconstruction is less painful than the thigh pain. I know this makes me dependent on the medicine but the relief is so glorious, if you have ever experienced it--imagine it going away for a good 4 to 6 hrs and feeling whole again. I only ask that if you have a deep aversion against medicine or a doctor hesitant to treat your pain, look for pain management specialist--they are anesthesiologists trained and licensed to dispense these medicines differently. They have other options as mentioned here, rubs, TENs units, etc but I know that I can not express how grateful I feel when I can move about. Good luck to all.

For the past month I have had constant burning pain on the inner side of my right knee. The best way to describe it is like a razor blade slashing into the deepest part of the skin. After seeing my Dr. she had xrays taken and said that there is some arthritis on the knee. I repeatedly told her it is NOT the knee but the leg area...I certainly know that this is not the way arthritis feels. She sent me to see an orthopedic Dr. who gave me a injection of cortizone. This was 4 days ago and the shot did absolutely no good other than make the knee sore and turn it black and blue. I took the shot at the time because I was hoping that it might relieve some of the pain but almost knowing 100% it wouldn't. He said to call and he could schedule an MRI to see what is going on if needed. Does anyone have any comments/or ideas that might be of help........I am thinking it is nerve related...the pain is certainly intense and is almost constant. Also my Dr. gave me some pain meds (Meloxicam) which does not lessen the pain at all.

I had 'liquid fire' for the first time last night and I will never forget it!!!  I was getting up from a low lounge when I felt this heat shoot through both my thighs at the same time.  Then the most severe pain I have ever felt.  I couldn't walk and had to stand with my legs bent - the pain was in both legs. I thought i was going to pass out but was in too much pain to lie down.  So I leaned over a table and wondered if I should call an ambulance.  I live alone, so was very frightened.  I was sweating profusely.  After about 10 minutes it started to subside. I looked in the mirror, my hair was damp and there was no colour in my normally bright face.  I was white like a corpse.
It's Sunday morning and was heading off to try and find a doctor/ultrasound, so reading this has been a blessing.  It seems I'm not going to die, but as to getting another attack of this.....it terrifies me!!!!

I just recently started having this pain. Center part of my left inner thigh.
At first I thought OhNo! I have shingles, because that is the shooting pain it feels like, but no signs of shingles on the outside.  I have been on a vitamin/green shakes regimen for my arthritis which seems to help with that as long as I keep up with it other wise I take over the counter artrhits pain formula. I feel for anyone with pain issues since I have been dealing with them since 2004 after a fender bender. Good luck to everyone.

I had my first attack last night on my right inner thigh. Interesting you mentioned lower back pain as I strained my lower back a couple of days ago. May be some connection (nerves etc.). Hope it is my last.
