Shingles

by montanamommy, Jun 03, 2008 08:38AM
Help... I was dignosed with shingles about 1 year ago. I thought I had hurt my neck as I had serious pain in the back of my head and neck and swelling.  I never got the rash though and now I have had the same symptoms 2 more times. Does anyone know if I am having reoccurances or just nerve pain. Please if there is anyone else who might have the same issues I'd like to know what your doctor thinks.

I'm sorry no one has come by your post who can offer you any suggestion yet.

I myself have never had shingles and I'm not a DR but do know that the virus can be stored in your body and be reactivated later during an especially stressful time or a lowered immune system.

There is a condition that is known to happen with shingles, however uncommon. I am not sure of the name of the top of my head but it occurs when the acute shingles virus has gone away and your nereves atill suffer the pain.

Maybe you will want to do a little research on that conditon and mention it to your DR.
If I come by the name in the next few days, I'll be sure to post it for you.

There is help if this is what has been happening. There are many non-narcotic medications your DR can prescribe that help stop the Brain from sending out pain messages to your nerves.

But first things first, talk to your Dr about this condition and see if it could be a possibility.
I hope you get the anweres you need soon

The way the medication works might be visa versa and stop the nerves from sending pain signals to the brain. I always get those confused!
Regardless, you need to chat with a DR about it anyway.
