Shoulder Ache & finger tip numbness

I am recently facing a left shoulder ache problem which persists for  a few minutes & after I move around or change my sitting posture the pain gates relieved. This I had been experiencing for over a month. A few days back I had gone for a jungle safari & suddenly I realized that I had a numbness  on the tip of my left forefinger. This has been there for the last five days & now the numbness is spreading to the joints. I drive a motorcycle & sit in front of the computer for quite some time. The shoulder pain is not experienced in my office where the monitor is at my eye level. I feel the pain at home where I have to look down at the monitor. Are the symptoms related & do I have a sitting problem? Has the finger tip numbness got to do anything with my shoulder ache? The shoulder ache is also experienced at different times when I am standing or sitting down, but not certainly when I am sleeping.

Hi, Thank you for your question. I think your symptoms may be due to nerve pinched in the cervical (neck) spine because of cervical disc bulge or injury. This pain may be referred and perceived as occurring in the back of head & shoulders (as electric sensation), arms or chest, rather than just the neck. Other symptoms may include vertigo, nausea (dizziness) and stiffness. It will be best that you consult a neurologist who would like to prescribe Pain killers, steroid and muscle relaxants. Other treatments could be cervical orthosis such as a soft cervical collar or stiffer neck brace to restrict neck movement till you get complete recovery. In addition, cervical traction may also be suggested by the doctor, if condition is severe. Hope this helps.
