Speech Difficulties

I'm a 32 yr old female and as far as I know completely healthy. The past few months I've been having issues talking, in my head I know exactly what I want to say but then I say it and it all screwed up. For example words will be mixed up, instead of saying "My hat is in the car." I'll say "My car is in the hat."....thats just an example but this seems to be happening more and more and I'm wondering maybe something could be wrong. Any info will be appreciated.

You have what is called an "expressive disorder". It may be what is called apraxia. Needless to say you require an immediate dye contrast MRI and a consultation with a facility that has neurologists available to review your disorder. A teaching hospital is a good place to find this expertise.

Yes, something is wrong.

It may be serious and it may not be. Sometimes these problems are due to destruction of impingement on a specific area of the brain by a tumor. Other times the cause can never be determined.

This should be a priority one problem that requires an M.D. specialist to evaluate.

Good luck.
