Syrinx? How serious are my MRI results?

Hi!  I'm a 50yr old woman with a 2 yr history of head/neck tremours, thoracic pain, as well as weird travelling nerve pain.
My MRI says the following...
Prominent discontinuous cord central canal measuring up to 2 mm in diameter is identified extending from inferior level of T6 through to inferior T11.
Multilevel spondylitis seen in mid and lower thoracic levels.  There is moderate right paramedian disc protrusion in particular identified at the T7-T8 level, causing slight flattening of the right side of the cord, but not high grade central stenosis.
I would appreciate any info I can get, as I'm very nervous about this.  Thx!

Sorry SelmaS, I wasn't very clear...under 'impressions' the neurologist wrote Prominent discontinuous cord/syrinx as described above.  correlation with gadolinium enhanced study of cervical thoracic spine recommended.  I've had a head MRI and it was fine.

Hi...in what you posted as to the report you do not mention a syrinx, but do in your title...the discontinuous cord...can indicate a syrinx....but I am curious it is not mentioned by name.....did you have an injury to your head or cervical spine?

Do you have any other medical conditions/DX's?
