Tingling right arm to thumb, no other symptoms

by AlanWT, Oct 23, 2007 11:47AM
Hello, I apologize if my question is not very useful for many but I have found little if any to compare. I am an active 37 year old male. I jog 6 miles/day, lift weights. I have a desk job and in front of the computer most of the day.

I have the occassional pins and needles feeling from my right thumb, outer side of the forearm and the bicep. It comes and goes, usually lasting a few seconds and disappears if I change my head position to a more forward leaning position. It has now been 10 weeks at the time of this writing. I have an appointment with a neurologist in 5 weeks. I have no other symptoms - nopain, restriction of motion, difficulty sleeping, weakness in the arm. Nothing.

Being usually healthy, I am naturally concerned. From my description, what could this be, a cervical herniated disk? How long before I can expect a resolution to this annoyance? Thank you.

possible carpal tunnel syndrome. Same thing happened to me. But mine went all the way down my the back of my shoulder.  It's amazing what tha carpal tunnel will effect.  Do lots of hand streches.

Symptoms usually start gradually, with frequent burning, tingling, or itching numbness in the palm of the hand and the fingers, especially the thumb and the index and middle fingers. Some carpal tunnel sufferers say their fingers feel useless and swollen, even though little or no swelling is apparent. The symptoms often first appear in one or both hands during the night, since many people sleep with flexed wrists. A person with carpal tunnel syndrome may wake up feeling the need to "shake out" the hand or wrist. As symptoms worsen, people might feel tingling during the day. Decreased grip strength may make it difficult to form a fist, grasp small objects, or perform other manual tasks. In chronic and/or untreated cases, the muscles at the base of the thumb may waste away. Some people are unable to tell between hot and cold by
