Pituitary Tumor

I have recently been diagnosed with a pituitary adenoma about 11mm in size.  I was told by my neurologist that all my blood work came back clean so there are no hormone abnormalities.  I just went to see the neurosurgeon today and really came out feeling as if I still don't know what is wrong with me.  According to him my headaches may not have anything to do with the tumor.

I guess my question is what is the usual treatment for a pituitary adenoma of that size when there are no signs of hormone abnormalities?

Pharmacologic treatment is dependent on what type of hormone-secreting pituitary adenoma is present.  Surgery is only indicated when symptoms warrant it and is usually through a trans-sphenoidal approach. Radiotherapy is indicated for patients who are not surgical candidates or for those with evidence of recurrence.

While headaches can occur in cases of pituitary adenoma, it would depend on the size and location of the tumor.  Your neurologist would be in the best position to determine whether the pituitary tumor is related to your headaches.

However, if you are not satisfied with your neurologist's assessment, you may always opt for a second opinion from another neurologist.

I was diangosed with a pitutaarty tumor of 5mm I am told that is impossible to have headaches from this.  I am going crazy for doctors to try and figure out my problem.   I have other symtpoms too but am told cant be.  I still cannot figure out how these damn doctors make the dertemination that this tumor cannot be the cause of headaches.  A little tiny splinter can hurt a finger why cant this cause the problems.  One day these doctors need to rewrite the medical books too many people reading this site have very similar symptoms with almost the same problems.
