Veritigo

by Isanai, Jun 19, 2008 05:37PM
I emailed my doctor and based on the symptoms I described, she said that I have VERTIGO. I had some blood work done and my results came back today. I checked them online. Four of them showed positive/abnormal and I'm waiting to see if they are going to call me. But based on the component name of the tests done, I've been going online to find the what the terminology means. I showed a positive on "SQUAMOUS EPITHELIAL CELLS". Who knows what that is. I looked this up in yahoo and it shows so many things and it really starts to freak me out. As I'm typing this email, I'm getting a very harsh headache on my left side. Once and a while I get a ringing sound in me ears and get a blurry vision. I also get dizzy when I make sudden movements. My walk started to slow down because I tend to kind of tilt to the side and get sudden pain on my back and the side of my waist. I just wonder what is wrong with me... I know I have something and can't take this any longer....

How are you? Can you tell me what kind of blood tests were done? Vertigo is a specific type of dizziness, a major symptom of a balance disorder. It is the sensation of spinning or swaying while the body is stationary. It can cause nausea and vomiting and, in severe cases, it may give rise to difficulties with standing and walking. Vertigo is usually associated with a problem in the inner ear balance mechanisms, in the brain, or with the nerve connections between these two organs. This accounts for the ringing ears you are feeling or dizziness. Treatment is specific for underlying cause. It would be good to see a ENT specialist for proper evaluation and management.

I hope this helps. Take care and keep us posted.
