Dystonia

I am 67 and was diagnosed with Dystonia 6 years ago. I have since had DBS 4 years ago with quite a bit of success. My Dr. is Dr. Chung with Kaiser in Los Angeles.
Does Dystonia make you tired. No motavation, and loss of energy
Thank you
Jeanie

I am 65 and recently (within 1.5 years) been diagnosed with "Cervical Dystonia". I take Klonopin and Vicodin on a regular basis and receive BoTox injections for treatment.  I believe the DRUGS involved make me tired and unmotivated more so than the disease itself. Even the drugs that I take are only a "Bank Aid" approach to the disease. It definitely originates in the brain, so seeing a good Neurologist is the right direction to relief---------or at least SOME relief.

good morning. Yes, my DBS surgery was quite successful. I was able to leave my wheel chair behind and no longer needed assistance with eating, dressing ,ect.
I have been diagnosed with generalized dystonia.
The DBS surgery percentages of good success are pretty good.
God Bless

I was really glad to hear from you. I have cervical dystonia for over thirty years.I forget which type of dystonia you said you had.I think you mentioned Artane as have being prescribed for you.Artane is a really old drug.I think maybe you might need to see a movement disorders specialist or a neurologist has a lot of experience dealing with dystonia. You may also may want to contact the Dystonia Medical Research Foundation in Chicago concerning info about your particular type of dystonia, treatments, medications, and availability of specialists in your area. You said you have had DBS.Have the symptoms of your dystonia improved?I would like to know. Please contact me through the MedHelp Discussion Forum.

Hi,

Thanks for writing in.
Yes dystonia can make you feel tired and exhausted and low on energy due to continuous muscle and brain activity.
