West Nile Virus Survivor- help with severe headaches

I am the wife of a west nile virus survivor (diagnosed seven months ago).  My husband STILL has extreme headaches on a daily basis.  He works at a factory and operates heavy materials with lifts.  He is able to work full time again and has been fairly successful.  There are good and bad days.  Over the counter remedies do nothing to touch the headaches but he has found some relief for secondary pain in excedrine tension headache.  I believe that his body becomes so tense through out the day that this helps his shoulders and neck muscles relax.  Initially the doc had him on Hydrocodone which is obviously not something that he can continue taking but did manage the pain.  I was just wondering if there was an expert out there that had run into something that positively effects the headache symptoms.  My husband has been on gabapentine and nortryptaline in attempt to help with the headaches but these simply made him feel worse.  Through the course of this he has taken meds for sleeping problems, frequent urination, joint pain and anxiety.  Our doctor is wonderful but we are just expanding our search for some other possible remedies.  We would be so grateful for some additional ideas or thoughts to bring to our physician.  Thank you for thinking about our situation.  Anxiously awaiting...
