I am allergic to Tegratol. I went 8 years being seizure free once I was put on Dilantin, but the doctors tried allot of different meds up until then. Once my seizures started "acting up" it was back to square one again. Trying different drugs seeing what happened and going from there. I ended up having to have a VNS implanted along with other meds on top of what I was already on.
So besides changing meds or upping your dosage, there is a chance that you might need to add another seizure drug on top of what you are already taking. Keep working with your neurologist and keep your head up.
what has accumulated , covered, changed in your brain during those 12 yrs to make you not seizure free ? what about a look at alternative medicine approaches, relaxation, changing neuro pathways ? something is different that neurology cant detect at this point. Not everything that goes on in the brain is FDA approved and determined and known, you have to do more of your own homework, most neurologists went to school in the past not in the future which you are living, hang in there and dont depend on them as they dont have all the answeres.
